WILLIAM SHEGOGUE, CO CEO

William Shegogue is a distinguished canine handler with over 40 years of experience in military, federal, and private sector service. As a retired US Secret Service Federal Commissioned Officer, he began his career in the US Army in 1968, and by 1970 had graduated as the top Honor Graduate in the first class of the US Army Combat Tracker Dog School conducted in the United States. Upon graduation, Mr. Shegogue was promoted to instructor and subsequently trained numerous canine teams in human tracking in preparation for deployment to Vietnam. He began his 27 years of federal service in 1972, when he became a US Secret Service Uniformed Division Officer. As an officer, he served in the Foreign Missions Branch, as a Firearms Instructor, and in the White House Special Operations Branch. He served as a canine handler for over 15 years, and graduated from three separate canine explosive detection schools (police, federal, and military). During this time, he conducted explosive detection details for the President, Vice President, and foreign heads of state in over forty-eight states and three foreign countries.

Mr. Shegogue spent ten years in the private sector as an explosive detection handler, instructor, supervisor, and Vice President in charge of training. He provided oversight for contracts with the FBI, NGA and other federal government agencies and conducted weekly security briefings for new federal employees at these sites. He has also worked security details for the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC and the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Mr. Shegogue is a consummate professional who has received numerous commendations and awards throughout his career. Bill is a certified Master Trainer and Instructor with The North American Police Work Dog Association. He has worked simultaneously to develop Federal K9’s Research & Development initiatives producing over a dozen whitepapers with a modern approach to training canines for operational work in high risk environments. He lends decades of federal and military training expertise to the foundation of intellectual property development within Federal K9.
