WES WILLIAMS, TSA K9 MASTER SME

Wes Williams retired as a Unit Chief from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Office of Security in August of 2019 after serving as a federal law enforcement officer for just over thirty seven years.

 Mr. Williams began his law enforcement career in 1982 with the United States Secret Service (USSS), where he held a number of assignments to include ten years as a canine handler, certified in both patrol and explosive detection. While with the USSS, Mr. Williams attended the Improvised Explosive Devices Familiarization course at the US Naval School of Explosive Ordnance Disposal at Indian Head, Maryland and the Police Supervisory in Service Training (POSIT) at Penn State University.

 In 2004 Mr. Williams was detailed from the USSS to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of State and Local Government Coordination where he served as a liaison working with law enforcement groups from around the country. In 2005 Mr. Williams retired from the USSS after 23 years and continued with DHS until 2006 when he was hired as a Special Agent (SA) within the TSA Office of Security.

 As a Unit Chief/SA within the TSA Office of Security, Mr. Williams managed all aspects of physical security to include the oversight a fifty million dollar security guard contract, access control, badging and credentialing, investigations, visitor management, and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD 12) PIV card issuance. Mr. Williams also attended and was certified in the Active Shooter Threat Instructor Training Program with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).
