Albert Bonilla is a retired detective specialist from the New York City Police Department as of September 13, 2022, with 28.7 years of honorable service. His former assignment was with the NYPD’s Specialized Training Section’s Bronx INTAC Unit as a senior uniformed in-service tactics instructor. Albert’s past experience in the area of law enforcement started with his membership in the Guardian Angels in 1980 New York City and through his employment in the U.S. Army Infantry (active) and Military Police (reserve) from 1982 to 1991. During 1990, he took an employment position as a peace officer/special patrolman with the Roosevelt Island Public Safety Department (1990 to 1994). As a former senior instructor within the NYPD’s Training Bureau for the past 20 years, Albert has earned an extensive array of training credentials and certifications both through the NYPD and through his own initiatives. These training credentials and certifications include NYPD, Homeland Security, and other Federal and State agencies. As an accomplished “train-the-trainer” within the NYPD’s Training Bureau, Albert delivered such training in Police Street Survival Tactics, SIMUNTION Scenario-based Training, Counter Terrorism, WMD Terrorist Threats, Fraudulent Document Identification, CBRNE HAZMAT Operations, Car Stop Tactics, Street Narcotics Enforcement, Gang Group Identification, Emergency Management, Domestic Violence, Prisoner Transport Tactics, Crisis Intervention, Room Clearing Drills, Strategies of Low Light Operations, The Tactical Mindset, Active Shooter Tactics, Nobility in Policing, Stop, Question and Frisk Training (Investigative Encounters). My primary goal as a lead tactics instructor was to train our police officers in a manner which brings excellence, pride and honor as they apply their training skills to continue safeguarding and protecting the people we serve of the City of New York.
